Mom hacks: Baby edition

You know what they say, the best way to learn is by doing. And when it comes to being a mom, that definitely rings true. From the very moment our little one is born, we're thrust into a world of new challenges and adventures—ready for them or not!

mom hacks baby edition

These baby mom hacks are a must-read for both new and seasoned mamas. Feeling overwhelmed with motherhood? Trust us, you're not alone. Hopefully, these will make your #momlife a little easier!

Hack #1: Use slim Lysol canisters for a quick wipe dispenser

Slim Lysol canisters make the perfect on-the-go wipe dispensers and fit perfectly into any diaper bag or purse! Just run them through the dishwasher to clean them out and then fill 'em up with your favorite brand of wipes. The best part: You’ll use them long after your diaper days are over for sticky hands and faces or dusty dashboards.

Hack #2: Keep "dog poop" bags handy for those messy diapers

Dirty diapers are an unfortunate reality of parenting. And while most public restrooms are now equipped with diaper-changing stations, they're not always available (or sanitary) when you need them. So, keep a few of these handy in your diaper bag to be prepared for any situation!

Hack #3: Use clothespins to attach a mesh bag to the side of the hamper for tiny socks

Those tiny infant socks are adorable, but they're also incredibly easy to lose. Simply attach a mesh bag to the side of your hamper using clothespins. Then, toss them in the bag whenever you take off your baby's socks. No more searching for lost socks after laundry day!

Hack #4: Carry a wet bag with you EVERYWHERE

Once used for cloth diapering, wet bags have become a staple in many parents' diaper bags. And for good reason! Wet or dirty clothes, trash, and even vomit are no match! The waterproof inner layer ensures messes are contained—no matter the size. Rinse them out and throw them straight into the washer for an easy clean.

Bonus! Wet bags also make the perfect storage bag for all those breast pump parts!

Hack #5: Use diaper prefolds for cheap burp cloths

These aren't your mom's prefolds! Another cloth diapering product has become a parenting essential. Prefolds are a cheap and absorbent way to make your own burp cloths. Don't limit them to just burping, though. This versatile cloth can be used for all sorts of things, from cleaning up messes to acting as a nursing cover or changing pad.

Hack #6: Hang onesies upside down for space-saving storage

Onesies are a wardrobe staple for any baby, but they can take up a lot of space in your drawers. To save some room, hang them upside down on hangers using the snaps! You can easily fit three on one infant hanger—and even more on a standard-sized one.

Hack #7: Make a day's worth of formula at one time

If your baby drinks formula, this hack is a game-changer. Instead of making each bottle as you need it, make a whole day's worth at one time. Then, store the formula in a pitcher or bottles in the fridge to use throughout the day.

Note: The CDC recommends using prepared formula that’s stored in the fridge within 24 hours.

Hack #8: Freeze your bags of breastmilk flat before storing

Breastfeeding mamas, we've got you too! Breastmilk is a precious commodity, and it's important to store it properly. When freezing, lay your milk storage bags flat until solid. Once frozen, you can group them by date and store them upright using gallon ziplock bags. This helps save space in your freeze, makes thawing quicker, and keeps milk dated so you can use it in order of expiration.
