If you go looking for it, you can find a million and one negative things about influencers on the internet. Sure, there are a few issues– consumerism and comparison at the top of the list. However, we prefer to subscribe to the idea that women led and created platforms are actually really great.
When else in the history of the world have women been able to make such economic, educational, social, and cultural gains? We owe a lot to platforms like Instagram that allow us to watch our female peers create and lead well. We get to learn and watch their passions come to life all through the power of social media. With that direct connection, we even get to be a part of it. We can ask questions and get answers. And, even if the question, in true Instagram fashion, is just, “Hey! Where did you get that skirt?,” it isn’t a bad question and our favorite gals are happy to share.
Here are a few of our favorite stylist Mom-fluencers:
OG Blogger, Instagrammer, and Queen of Millenial Online Aesthetics, Emily Schuman came onto the scene with her iconic site “Cupcakes and Cashmere.”
Though her style may have evolved from walking on a beach boardwalk with pink balloons to something a little more subtle, it’s still full of elevated, everyday basics. Even after all this time of sharing on the internet, her core mission of defining and reinventing our style still rings true.
Here is a look featuring her chic, simple love of neutrals and tons of tiny jewelry:
Best selling author and award winning journalist, Virginia Sole Smith talks diet culture, anti-fat bias, feminism, health, and motherhood on her super popular substack and podcast. She is also a newly single mom finding her style post divorce and body acceptance—which we applaud!
Make like Virginia and spend time playing with feminine touches and colors or even conventionally considered “unflattering” styles like horizontal stripes, full tucked shirts, and even skinny jeans with the goal of finding great comfort and joy in clothing no matter your body’s shape or size.
Moms Demand Action started as a grassroots organization thanks to a Facebook post Shannon Watts shared a few days after the tragedy at Sandy Hook. Watts grew the organization based on that conversation and began chipping away at gun legislation resulting in the passing of over 500 gun safety laws.
Despite passing the organization on as she retired in 2023, she still carries what she calls, “Big Mom Energy!” helping mothers summon their own audacity to make change.
Find your spark when rocking a great blazer, an even better blowout like Shannon, and Moms Demand Action’s signature pop of red.
Emily Calandrelli, better known as The Space Gal on Instagram, works to break down all sorts of stereotypes in science– even how a scientist should dress!
She rocked her pregnant belly in hot pink overalls on her super popular Netflix show, Emily’s Wonder Lab, and lives her mission of helping kiddos stay curious and keep exploring through books, speaking events and more.
All the while she dons sparkles, frills, bows, and even more pink! (She is especially partial to anything with stars. She is The Space Gal after all!)
Have a little fun with your wardrobe as you incorporate some new fun (and sparkly!) pieces!
Longtime blogger Julia Berolzheimer has offered us a window into her life for years. Everything from her kids' names, her husband’s garden, their southern yet retro home, and her personal style radiates technicolor joy.
There are textures, earthy inspirations, bold prints and patterns. It’s no wonder home and style superstar Pottery Barn enlists her help for seasonal product lines.
Her unique styles sometimes cost a pretty penny, but we have recreated her look without breaking the bank.
Sai De Silva flipped the reality TV to Influencer pipeline on its head when the Scout in the City blogger and instagram influencer joined the newest Real Housewives of New York cast.
Her big personality, inspiring origin story, and bold city style shines on both a TV and smartphone screen.
Maybe you are not walking the streets of New York, but it doesn’t mean you can’t bring the urban look to school drop off and everywhere in between.
As the internet fuels fights between Working Mom’s versus Stay at Home Mom’s, Tradewives and Target Moms, even White SUV Moms versus Black SUV Moms, Neha Ruch of Motherhood Untitled is working to make space for ambitious women who also are leaning into family life.
On her platform, Neha shares stories and normalizes mother’s taking a pause to focus on family life just for a chapter of their own life. In her helpful, candid interviews, discussing everything from feelings about being financially dependent to the value that can be found in a career downshift, Neha is often seen looking cozy, yet smart and put together.
