7 Top ColourPop skincare products based on reviews

Ok friends, if you've strolled an Ulta aisle - or read a drugstore dupes article recently! - you probably know about the ColourPop Cosmetics line and its extensive range of makeup products. But DYK ColourPop also has a sister skincare line, Fourth Ray Beauty? It's known for having high-end formulas at those deeply-discounted drugstore prices you (and I!) love so much. We decided to dive into a few, peek the reviews of this ColourPop skincare line, and spill what might be worthy to add to your own skincare routine.

Introducing Fourth Ray Beauty by ColourPop Cosmetics

ColourPop Cosmetics ventured into the world of skincare back in 2018. From ColourPop's website on Fourth Ray Beauty, they claimed this new line would be dedicated to offering exceptionally high quality and effective skin care, all at an affordable price, so everyone can start their makeup routines with the best skin possible. FRB (because we're practically besties and have fun nicknames for each other, lol) also creates "progressive formulas that are 100% cruelty-free, vegan and made with the latest on-trend performance ingredients and botanicals."

We also love that upon popping over to their website, you're immediately greeted with the reassuring phrase "Dermatologist tested." This indicates products have undergone rigorous testing to ensure compatibility with different skin tones, sensitivities, and safety standards. Because hey, not all of us are blessed with normal skin, or the patience to scour a full ingredients list, amiright?

7 Top ColourPop skincare products based on reviews:

For this piece, we sourced product details from Ulta's website (they're one of our faves!), and consulted reviews from them plus on the Fourth Ray Beauty site to help fill in a few knowledge gaps.

1. Dew It Hydrating Face Mist

A makeup-friendly micro-fine mist that will leave your skin feeling hydrated and fresh, plus shield your skin from bluelight rays. Can also be used as a setting spray following your makeup routine. This ranks 4.3 stars, with one commenter noting "I would get this again!"

2. Avocado Superfood Nourishing Mask

Designed to give your skin a healthy boost. It's power-packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants (you know, all the good stuff!) for an overall healthy-looking complexion, and feels wonderfully cooling when applied to your whole face. This has a 5-star rating on the FRB website, with Gabriella stating "My favorite mask, ever!"

3. Ego Boost Brightening Serum Stick

A solid formula in a stick that helps brighten the complexion and boost skin radiance with a high content of Vitamin C. As a newer user of this leave-on product, I can attest it's perfect to use on-the-go, lightweight, and has a non-greasy formula that glides on targeted areas easily in a simple swipe. And at $12/stick, my review is: It's a super affordable price point and... just get it.

4. Chill Sesh Hydrating Eye Masks

These masks come soaked in an ultra-hydrating serum infused with Hyaluronic Acid and soothing botanicals to revive tired, puffy eyes. They provide a gentle cooling sensation that will leave your eyes looking fresh after just one application, and - some reviews say - lightly eliminated their fine lines. Reviewer Mariah said "I keep them in the fridge & they feel very nice on & leave a glow afterward."

5. Lip Mask

"Lip products have been done to death, and in 2021, there's very little we haven't seen or tried." Said one reviewer. "The morning after applying it for the first time, I woke up and looked at my lips in the mirror - I was so surprised! My lips were smooth, soft and they were so pink!" This moisturizing overnight lip mask locks in essential moisture while you sleep, and based on all the positive reviews, appears to be a stellar dupe to a more expensive beauty brand.

6. Bloom Service Softening Cleansing Balm

Transforms from a solid balm into a silky oil that gently melts away makeup, pollution and impurities with a luxurious milky lather. Made with a few select essential oils - no, the other essential oils like Rose Hip Oil, Argan Oil and Sunflower Oil, this balm leaves skin soft, refreshed, and ready for your next skincare step. Reviewer Andya mentioned, "Works great with getting off eye make up and doesn't leave skin tight and dry. Will buy again." With that in mind, it seems it would also make a great spot treatment for eye makeup removal when you need to start over.

While we’re on the topic of skincare…

7. Remedy Niacinamide Serum

A form of vitamin B3, this serum says it "works wonders" for all skin types to enhance skin clarity, perfect pores over time, and boost overall skin health. But we loved Nicole's comment that although she has sensitive skin, it is "My absolute favorite serum. Use it in my daily skincare and makes me skin look so alive and glowing."

ColourPop's makeup products to enhance your skincare routine

How about a little bonus intel? As we mentioned, ColourPop's popular makeup line includes a ton of products to elevate your skincare routine. We constantly see rave reviews with comments like great quality, affordable price point, and favourite products (oh we see what you did there with the 'u' - ha!).

A few favorite ColourPop Cosmetics must-haves:

Their Ultra Blotted Lip lipsticks come in a wide range of shades that suit every skin tone. These liquid lipsticks are comfortable to wear and do not dry out your lips, making them perfect for everyday wear.

Also a big hit: The ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip, which comes in a bunch of different matte shades, and is "infused with lip-loving ingredients for a nourished pout" as Ulta says.

Another standout product is ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows. This eye shadow has a unique bouncy texture and are highly pigmented. They come in a variety of shades, from neutrals to bolds, offer full coverage eye color, and still look as fresh at the end of the day after wear.

Ok, a final plug: While it's easy to buy direct from the FBR website, I'm a big fan of purchasing with Ulta - not only can you continue stocking up on your Ulta Rewards, but if something goes awry with a product, there's probably an Ulta store near you ready to handle your quick exchange at no additional cost (i.e. no return shipping). Just my two cents!
