Dinosphere returns to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis
If your kiddos are anything like ours they’ve been roaring for the return of the Dinosphere exhibit and good news, mama - the wait is over.
theCityMoms were invited to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for a Dinosphere sneak peek (hint: the official reopening is March 19) and you know we would never hold on out you. So settle in for some exclusive first looks at this incredible exhibit that will quickly become your family’s new favorite spot.
CityMom Sarah and her family were so thrilled to be our reporters for the preview noting while there are many familiar elements at Dinosphere you’ll remember from years past - the huge T. Rex and Triceratops in the dome, the dig site, and the paleontologist lab - the Museum has added many new ways to elevate the experience.
What’s new at Dinosphere?
“Be prepared for many jaw-dropping moments as you walk through the exhibit full of casts and fossils, interactive learning (emphasis on interactive), and even talk to real paleontologists!” says CityMom Sarah.
Here’s what’s new:
Work your way past the super croc and into the brand new Monsters of the Mesozoic Sea.
Stand next to a 6-foot wide ammonite.
Check out the interactive animal adaptation touch screens.
Take the scenic route to the Art Lab.
“They’ve added tunnels for kids (and willing moms!) to crawl thru that lead to a clear observation bubble inside the exhibit.”
The Art Lab… Holy moly, brace yourself! You will want to plan for at least an hour (if not more) to spend on this floor. Yes, floor. There is an entire floor devoted to technology and art. Explore textures, draw comics, even experiment with design on the awe-inspiring scanning station! Color your favorite type of dinosaur and watch it come to life on the wall-size projection.
After you’ve seen the dinos - don’t miss the Museum’s Sports Legends Experience!
A note about accessibility at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis Dinosphere:
The Children's Museum has always blown us away with their attention to detail. It is their standard to make sure every person has what they need to enjoy their time at the museum. For our friends with sensory needs, you will notice "sensory information" signs providing a heads up for sensory elements to come. The museum even provides complimentary fidgets and noise-reducing headphones so everyone can enjoy their visit! They went so far as to provide a QR code for a downloadable sensory map. And let's not forget the bathrooms IN the exhibit! No more panic when you spot your little one doing the potty dance.
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is also celebrating the return of Dinosphere in a big way, with an entire week of events and excitement:
