During the final years of his career, Andy Warhol's lifelong fascination with the American West and Native American art came to the forefront of his work in a series of screen prints and paintings in his iconic colorful style. Warhol's West opens March 12 at the Eiteljorg Museum. Let’s enjoy a morning at the Museum to peek this new exhibit!
DETAILS:
The 1986 Cowboys and Indians series was the last major group of work Andy Warhol created before his death. In addition to the more overt pop culture references in this series, such as the print of Western film actor John Wayne, Warhol drew more broadly on the American cultural fascination with the American West and Indigenous North America. Warhol grew up at a time when Westerns were popular in film and television, and when he created the series in the 1980s, the genre — and related ones such as Country and Western music — were seeing a revival in popular culture.
During our visit we’ll enjoy the exhibit, visit the new RB Annis Family Area, stay for lunch in the Eiteljorg Cafe, and then swing by the Museum Store before we depart. Of course you’re welcome to stay and play at the Museum!

Cost: $5/adult; ages 17 and under are free. Anyone choosing to stay for lunch in the Cafe will pay their ala carte costs to the Cafe on the day of the event.
Guests are welcome to join if you’d like. We’re just noting this as a Moms Day Out in case you’re in need of a little ‘me’ time with other mamas.
Be advised that the main Eiteljorg exhibit galleries are currently closed for remodeling and will reopen in June.
