Confession: I'm a romance movie-aholic. Don't get me wrong - some of my favorite movies are action-packed thrillers. But when I really want a movie to put on in the background while I cook or do things around the house, it's a romcom. And I wholeheartedly think this love began with the Disney movies of my youth. If you're like me and just need a Disney romance movie to put on in the background or are slowly introducing your family to these classics, here's a list of 19 of the best romantic Disney movies for movie night!
And let me just add - while all of these are on the Disney Plus streaming service as of this posting, I recognize that not everyone has this service. So in addition to Disney+ I'm also noting other streaming services that carry these films, just in case you're looking for a one-off movie night.

A tale as old as time, this classic Disney film tells the beautiful story of Belle and the Beast, proving that true love sees beyond appearances. With iconic songs like “Be Our Guest” and a magical ballroom dance, this film is what kickstarted my love for Disney (and I feel like you hear this a lot from Disney fans our age!).

2. The Princess Diaries (2001)
Also streaming on: Amazon Prime Video | Rated: G

4. The Parent Trap (1998)

Prefer the original, Hayley Mills version from 1961? We gotchu. Find it on Amazon Prime Video here.
5. Starstruck (2010)

A Disney Channel favorite, this film follows small-town girl Jessica as she unexpectedly meets pop star Christopher Wilde. Their whirlwind romance is filled with a few sweet moments, misunderstandings, and ofc the magic of young love.
6. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Also streaming on: Amazon Prime Video | Rated: PG-13
One of my forever faves featuring Heath Ledger’s unforgettable performance (like hello to that swoon-worthy singing scene at the soccer field), this high school romance is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. It’s the perfect blend of teenage romance and witty banter, and an ultimate classic.
7. Enchanted (2007)
Also streaming on: Amazon Prime Video | Rated: PG
Amy Adams stars as Giselle, a fairy tale princess who is transported to real life New York City. In short, it includes a hilarious culture clash, a (Mc)dreamy leading man, and a glass slipper moment. This live-action remake of the classic fairytale is just pure magic.
8. High School Musical (2006)
Also streaming on: Amazon Prime Video | Rated: G
Admittedly, it took me a spell to get into this one bc it dropped after my teen years, but Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens bring young love to life in this Disney Channel original movie. The tunes are super catchy and this classic tale of two opposites falling for each other has definitely become one of the best romance movies for teenage girls (or teen girls at heart).
9. The Proposal (2009)
Also streaming on: Amazon Prime Video | Rated: PG-13
Made you look twice, right? Believe it or not, The Proposal was produced for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures! And it's all star cast is A+. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds star in this hilarious rom-com about a high-powered editor who convinces her assistant to marry her to avoid deportation. With witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and a good ending, it’s a must-watch for fans of feel-good romance. The dog-stealing-hawk scene makes me roll with laughter every time! (Poor Kevin.)
