Mom’s-night-out in Indianapolis under $50

Between having the kids home all summer and the back-to-school rush, we are way past due for some fun with friends. Dinner, cocktails, and juicy conversation are great, but sometimes you need to shake it up and try something new…without breaking the budget. Grab your girls and check out our favorite places for an unforgettable night out in Indy this month!

CityMoms try their hand at a game of chance.

Indiana State Fair

The Indiana State Fair is in full swing and while going to the fair with the little ones is an Indiana family tradition, an adults-only night at the fair should not be skipped. Devour the ah-mazing fair food, catch a free concert, or take a ride on the Skyride or Super Wheel. You also won’t want to miss the new Photo Trail for Instagram-worthy spots around the Fairgrounds or the Brews & Spirits Trail to taste the best beer, wine, and spirits from across the state. (Psst, peek this link for the best ways to save at the fair!)

Take in a Drag Show

Indy is home to so many incredible drag shows from the classic burlesque style to brewery bingo. Depending on which event you choose, the ticket costs include a preset menu, drink coupon, and of course, the show. Don’t forget a few singles to tip your favorite queen!

Pull up a blanket or chair at the Indianapolis Symphony Prairie.

Symphony on the Prairie

Squeeze out the last bit of summer at Symphony on the Prairie! Load up a picnic basket with snacks and drinks, a blanket or lawn chairs, and your girls for a warm summer night of live music at Conner Prairie. Tribute bands like The Springsteen Experience or One Night of Queen will have you dancing all night long.

Wild Blackberry Farms

Before heading to the apple orchards in September, don’t miss u-pick blackberries at Wild Blackberry Farms, a short drive from Indy, in Fortville. Wild Blackberry Farms will make your Pinterest dreams come true with its picturesque country setting. Plus, the kids will love the pail of blackberries you’ll bring home from an afternoon of picking.

Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition

Bring arts and culture to your girl’s night with Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition at the Circle Centre Mall downtown. This immersive exhibit takes you up close to the iconic art through life-size installations and perspectives. The exhibit takes around 60-90 minutes to experience so make a night of it and plan for dinner at one of Indianapolis’ underrated eateries afterward.

It’s easy to let the months slip by and not realize how long it’s been since you’ve been out with friends. So why not drop a text in your group chat and get one of these fab options on the calendar right now?

Emily Heck

Emily, originally from Columbus, Indiana, has called Indianapolis home for nearly 15 years. During the day she bounces between running a marketing agency and teaching college students but enjoys writing as a creative escape from the day-to-day grind. Emily lives for hot and humid weather and loves gardening and spending time on the lake. When she’s not chasing her free-spirited toddler, you’ll find her on a yoga mat.
