The 3 easiest houseplants to keep alive

One of the best things to come from the pandemic? My houseplant collection. Somehow I went from brown thumb to of course I know how to propagate a monstera, duh doesn’t everyone? in a matter of months. And now, three years later (seriously, has it been that long?) - I’m proud to say they are not only thriving, but they've taken over - in a good way.

In honor of Houseplant Appreciation Day on January 10th (oh yeah, it’s totally a thing), we’re answering the question: “what are the easiest houseplants to keep alive?”

Here are the 3 easiest houseplants to keep alive:

1. The Sansevieria (aka snake plant or mother -in-law’s tongue)

Perfect for your desk or home office, comes in many sizes, can tolerate direct sunlight but thrive best in shady spots or low light, water every 2 weeks at most when the soil is completely dry.

2. ZZ plant

Comes in many different sizes from 6-12”, does well in low light, tolerates being neglected (water when fully dry only), and doesn’t need special potting soil. But keep away from pets as the leaves are poisonous.

3. Pothos

Tons of different varieties, super chill plant, can be fine watered every 2 weeks but not much more, prefer various types of light but never place in direct sunlight; low light may halt its variegation or light striping. Can be grown in soil or water.

And you know what? If your beloved greenery perishes, just remember: “it’s okay to thank it for what it’s done for you, and let it go.”
