An Indianapolis holiday season tradition continues bigger and better than ever on Thanksgiving Weekend, when Indianapolis Ballet and Methodist Sports Medicine proudly present The Nutcracker at the historic Murat Theatre at Old National Centre! After establishing its production of The Nutcracker as a local must-see during the holidays across the last 12 years, the Indianapolis School of Ballet will continue to be a part of Indiana’s grandest staging of the classic Christmas tale alongside the 21 members of the Indianapolis Ballet professional company.
Nutcracker Storytime with Central Indiana Dance Ensemble
December 5, 2019 at Carmel Clay Public Library
A special program for children ages 3-6 and their caregivers. Come and listen to the magical story of The Nutcracker as told by the beautiful dancers of Central Indiana Dance Ensemble and see your favorite characters come to life—Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Nutcracker, and dancers from the Kingdom of Sweets. Following the performance, have your picture taken with your favorite character. Free tickets are required and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Children's Desk 30 minutes prior to the scheduled program start time.
Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Presented by Butler Ballet
December 5-8, 2019 at The Butler Arts Center - Clowes Memorial Hall
Butler Ballet proudly presents the longest running, fully staged production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker in Indiana. A holiday family tradition, children and adults will be dazzled and delighted by spectacular dancing, beautiful costumes, glorious scenery, and pyrotechnical magic. The brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s music will be brought to life by the Butler Symphony Orchestra and the Indianapolis Children’s Choir under the direction of Richard Auldon Clark.
Nutcracker 2019 by The Academy of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre
December 6-7, 2019 at the Pike Performing Arts Center
Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre presents THE NUTCRACKER at Pike Performing Arts Center, December 6 & 7, 2019. GHDT’s full-length modern version features the highly-talented dancers of G2, the pre-professional company of GHDT. G2 is joined by students from The Academy of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre and other young student dancers filling the stage with movement and color! THE NUTCRACKER follows the same overall story line as the original, but with a uniquely different twist. This magical version portrays Klara as a homeless orphan girl who discovers the true meaning of the season through the gift and giving spirit of another homeless person. THE NUTCRACKER is a family favorite and is sure to add joy and cheer to the holiday season.
The Central Indiana Academy of Dance and Ensemble performance
December 13-15, 2019 at the STAR Bank Performing Arts Center in Zionsville
Begin your holiday season as a guest at the Stahlbaum family holiday celebration and share in Clara’s dreamlike journey with her Nutcracker Prince. Watch as Clara battles the evil Rat King, dances with the Snow Maidens, and accompanies the Sugarplum Fairy through the Land of the Sweets. Enjoy the enchanted music of Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score and the beautiful voices of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. Young and old alike will delight in this holiday tradition. To celebrate the 20th anniversary season, audiences will be delighted to see brand new costumes and updated choreography!

The Dance Refinery performance
December 14-15, 2019 at Beech Grove High School
The Dance Refinery & Beech Grove Choral Society team up to do an Annual Production of The Nutcracker. This is a great opportunity for young artists to perform in front of a live audience and perform this wonderful holiday tradition. Our show is unique and the casting every year is based on the talent of our children year to year- offering rolls in not only ballet, but tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary-lyrical, and acrobatics as well.
Nutcracker Short + Suite by The Village Dance Studio
December 15, 2019 at Grace Church of Noblesville
The Village Dance Studio, in partnership with the LIFT program at Grace Church, brings you excerpts from The Nutcracker, a holiday classic ballet. This performance is a community outreach initiative to bring dance performance to all abilities. The house lights will be slightly raised, sound will be adjusted (lower at 2pm for those with sensory needs and higher at 4pm for those hard of hearing), various traditional and non-traditional seating options, and a movement space will be open in the back for anyone who wants to dance along.
