How your family can participate in Indy Do Day
White pants after Labor Day. Forgetting to write thank you notes. Pooh-poohing Ryan Gosling's charisma. <-- All don'ts, although really who follows the no-white-after-LD anymore?!
Instilling good stewardship in your family? A do. Like must do.
Indy Do Day - an initiative to capture "the good we do" and inspire 30,000 residents around Indy to volunteer - returns September 27-29.
Led by the Rotary Club of Indianapolis, Indy Do Day offers impactful volunteer opportunities open to adults, youth, and families. Patrick Broccolo - Indy Do Day Co Chair - notes, "Kids who volunteer learn about self confidence, teamwork and innovation. The more experiences we give kids in these simple but fun volunteer moments, the more likely they will become leaders in their future workplace, community and family.”
We asked our theCityMoms members: Why do you choose to volunteer with your family?
"To teach my kids to think of others!" - Stacey S.
"Because so many people helped my family when we needed it, and now that we are in a position to give back its important to me." - Lindsey D.
"To show my kiddos that all humans are worthy of love and grace!" - Leah S.
"To participate in our community - to develop relationships with our neighbors and strengthen our bonds." - Kathleen H.
"Because I want my child to grow to be kind and empathetic. It also gives us the opportunity to bond as a family by helping others and being involved in our community." - Laura C-D.
