Ironworks Hotel: Our moms night out event recap

Families, spouses, children of mothers everywhere, here comes a friendly PSA: Mother's Day is a big deal. Or at least it should be - for one day, can your put needs on the back burner and return a little love to the mom in your life?In chatting with our CityMoms, we've learned something valuable: Many moms don't feel like Mother's Day is for herself. It's for their own mothers, it's for treating their in-laws of the world because spouses forgot, and it's about maintaining status quo on a day when she needs, should be, flat out deserves to be recognized.

  • What I really want is someone to take over the mental load for a day. - A

  • It's pretty much the least relaxing weekend of the entire year, but yaaaaaay Mother's Day... - K

  • I don't want gifts, {I have never been a big gift person} just want to do my own thing with massages and pedicures and have an official day off. - C

  • I just want a day where everyone does what they are supposed to do without me telling them. - S

It was just a couple weeks before Mother's Day and the comments like those above were rolling in from our CityMoms. So this was the year we decided to take matters into our own hands and we called in the big guns.

Enter Ironworks Hotel Indy and all the fabulousness they offer: It was time for an extra special moms night out!

After a few planning calls, we had the ideas set - CityMoms would arrive at Ironworks Hotel Indy for a moms night out event in honor of them. Festivities were set to take place on Wednesday, May 9th - hopefully in time to solidify perma-smiles in time for the upcoming Mother's Day weekend.Ironworks Hotel has an incredible number of amenities onsite from their large boutique hotel feel to a delish sushi spot {shouts to you Blue Sushi Sake Grill} to one of our fave pampering CityMoms partners, Massage Heights. And all of them were on board to help throw a celebration in honor of CityMoms and we couldn't have done it without them.

Here's how the evening came together: Moms arrived at Ironworks Hotel around 7pm and were escorted to one of their gorgeous event rooms upstairs. Available for parties, conferences and events, we were taken with the decor and even more taken with how welcoming the staff was. Assistant Manager Greg kicked off the night with a few words about Ironworks:

Then, CityMoms were treated to food platters thanks to the downstairs eatery, Blue Sushi Sake Grill:

A table of sweets was nearby thanks to Flying Cupcake:

Penn & Beech and Gilchrest & Soames setup space in the hotel lobby displaying their wonderful oils, candles and bath lines - all available to overnight guests of Ironworks Hotel. {BONUS: Each CityMom got a Penn & Beech candle to take home and enjoy once the night wrapped!}

Champagne was set out for moms to enjoy {along with a special toast reminding CityMoms that 'it's an honor to honor YOU!'}:

Then CityMoms could breakout to a nearby hotel suite for a special 10-minute chair massage thanks to Massage Heights...

... OR spend time mingling with other members!

Our favorite part of the night though? {Ok so all of them were faves but this definitely helped.} The opportunity to declare exactly what gifts we do want for Mother's Day - just in the hopes our spouses/family/respective gift-giving relatives were watching theCityMoms social media channels accordingly. Here were the results:

And in true fairy-godmother-style, that gift-giving guilt worked perfectly for CityMom Kendra's fam because come Mother's Day morning, guess what she found wrapped up in a bow for her? Her exact wish:

In all, what started as a fun idea turned into one of our most successful and thrilling moms night out of 2018. And we have Ironworks Hotel Indy and their wonderful public relations partners Dittoe PR to thank for it. The real question is: How on earth will we top this Mother's Day fun in 2019? We have no idea. But we *do* know it'll be big and pamper-filled... these hard-working CityMoms deserve it.
