10 Black Hoosier moms to follow on Instagram

It’s no surprise that our world entered a resurgence of mom-love in the pandemic. From following women across the globe to see how they’re coping to upping my feed with more diverse voices, IG has become such a haven for me the past 2 years.

And while I hope your IG feed is already filled with countless beautiful Black and brown faces, here are 10 Black moms on Instagram I love following. Bonus? They’re all Hoosiers.

10 Black moms to follow on Instagram:

Plus-size influencer and Hoosier mom, Sierra Holmes, posing in a white eyelet dress.

1. Sierra Holmes

A sensational mom of 2, wife to Justin, small business owner, and plus-size influencer, I’ve had the good fortune to know Sierra for years. Follow for her colorful feed, hair tips sponsored by Pantene, and style - which has also caught the eye of Lane Bryant - but stay for the adorable Reels with her ‘husbae.’

2. Aisha Rose

Admittedly I only recently hit follow on Aisha’s account, but it was enough to fall fast for her self-care platform, healing journal features (snag one on her website!), and Strength of She community for women.

3. Erica Scott

Sound the swoon alert - when I met Erica last year it quickly went from lust to love over her carefully-curated feed of thrifted finds. Then I fell harder learning her mission with daughter Amor to get more books representing Black and brown children into schools, even catching the eye of Kelly Clarkson

4. Charlotte Simpson

Total travel inspo here - Charlotte is a lifelong adventurer, doesn’t mind the solo me-time trip, and loves sharing them on Instagram. Following the death of her husband, she began occasional trips with her daughter, who eventually encouraged her to share with her IG family. As a self-proclaimed “USA Getaway Expert” I love her feed for vacay ideas and mom-and-me excursions.

5. Candace Boyd

Call Candace a mom of 3 - first to her 8yo daughter, second to her 9yo blog, and third to her podcast - shared with another one of our Indy faves Tannoria Askew! - @blackgirlseating (more here). Candace’s IG feed literally feeds with recipe ideas and motivational words.

6. Andrea Hunley

Move over Kamala, there’s a new woman trailblazing her way to the top. Mama of 2, an English-teacher-turned-Indianapolis-Public-Schools-principal, and Fort Wayne native Andrea Hunley recently punched her ticket for the campaign trail for Indiana’s District 46 State Senator

7. Lateva Woolfork

Minister. Owner of SoCo Content Creation. Mom of six girls. We bonded over our native Michigan state (Go Blue!), but Lateva’s love for others shines internationally thru her podcast “This Messy Mum Life” with Australian friend Ellie McGrath. Add co-founder to Create Connect Collab - a community for creative thinkers and does - to her list of accolades.

8. Jessica Bellamy

If you make it to Jessica’s inner circle, she’ll drop a bombshell on you: You can call her Rae. And while she splits time doing stepmom-duty, coaching cheerleading, and blogging, Rae also runs one of the largest Starbucks IG fan accounts. I follow for secret recipes, drink inspo, and breaking ‘Bux news.

Jennifer Magley on The Basketball League.

9. Jennifer Magley

To say Jennifer’s energy is contagious is like saying kittens are cute. It pours from her soul both IRL and via IG. Keep an eye out for her Power Lunch events, or snag a copy of her recently-released book “How To Be Queen - A Leadership Fable.” No surprise here: This mom of 2’s energy translates well to her career as a motivational speaker.

Fashion influence Kiarra Logan posing in one of her many inspired and fabulous ensembles.

10. Kiarra Logan

Style crush alert - Kiarra’s IG is filled with peeks at her killer style, and will have you mixing palm prints and paisleys in no time. As the owner of styling biz Kiarra Looks Styling, she’s transcended her fashion career from Indiana University to Europe, and now blazes thru motherhood in my kind of style… with heels.
