Guys. In true fantastical form, The Children’s Museum will unveil not one but TWO major exhibits in. the. same. week. “The Science of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” opens Saturday, October 6; and the 55th Annual Haunted House – titled “Grim-nasium” – opens Thursday, October 11.

Here’s what to expect of the new Ripley’s exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis:

“Be amazed by a colossal collection of ‘curi-ODD-ities,’ and discover the science behind them all,” states the Museum’s Extra! member magazine. This exhibit displays some truly mind-blowing objects and artifacts of our world that will have the entire family oooohing and ahhhhing with wonder. We loved that the exhibit is divided into informational stations, digital kiosks, interactive spots and even an animatronic replica – all ways to target visitors’ various senses and synapses.

All of the displays fall under one of the following five categories:

Bizarre biology

  • Crawl through a life-size model of the 50-foot prehistoric snake Titanoba
  • Measure up agains Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest man
  • Hunt for life-size models of some of the world’s smallest animals; you’ll be amazed at how tiny they are

Captivating cultural customs

  • Learn about the elongating effects of neck coils worn by Kayan women of Thailand
  • See footage of real sword swallowers and try a sword-swallowing interactive
  • “Dine” at the Bug Bistro, where you can learn why some people eat insects
